Sometimes, our somewhat tight budgets in life mean that we are not able to go out and splash the cash every time we want to go on dates, but this is the beauty of being able to enjoy home date nights too. If you are still in the early stages of your relationship, it is understandable that you may want to go out and impress your significant other a bit. However, for married couples, they often don’t feel any pressure to do this. If you want a date night but also fancy staying in, follow one of these ideas for a perfect home date night.

A Movie Night
One of the many great things to do when staying in for your date night is sitting in front of a great film. Going to the cinema to watch a film is fun, but staying in and having a home movie night can be equally fun too. You will be in the comfort of your own home, so if you want to sit in your pyjamas under a blanket with a cup of tea, you are more than welcome to do this. Decide on a film that suits both of you when picking it and ensure you have a great set up. Don’t forget the all-important move must-have: snacks! The best movie snacks are typically popcorn, sweets, chocolate and a cool fizzy drink. Seeing a movie at the cinema is a treat, so treat yourself when you are watching from home too.
A Romantic Meal
If you want something which requires you both to put in a bit more effort, why not have a romantic meal at home? This could be cooked by just one of you for the other if you are treating them on a special occasion, or it could be a joint effort. Go for something classy, such as a vegetable risotto which has rich flavours. To make your meal extra romantic, you should dress up smart for the occasion and put some candles on your table to eat next to. You will have saved money and will eat well!
Playing Some Games
Playing games could be an activity that is the focus of your night or it could be a side activity which could come after another part of your date, such as eating dinner. When there are just two of you, some games work better than others – some great ones to go for include Scrabble or Frustration. This is a good alternative if both of you have been staring at screens all day and don’t fancy a movie night. It can be really engaging too, particularly for those who have a competitive streak in them.
Date nights don’t have to be boring just because they involve staying in. However, they do require that extra little bit of energy and creativity, so if you put your mind to it, you should be able to think of some conventional ideas, as well as some strange ideas about what you can do for fun.
