Air travel is undoubtedly the ideal combination of speed and comfort when you have to get from one point on the globe to another one. However, along with all the advantages of traveling by air you also get the high cost of airfares. Don’t despair. Experienced travelers have a few tips and tricks up their sleeve that can easily reduce the price of an air ticket. We are going to share them with you in this article, so keep reading.
Buy tickets 45 days before the flight
The general rule is, the earlier you book your cheap first class flights, the less they cost. Plane tickets are usually released for sale 330 days before the actual flight date. But no worries, you don’t need to plan your trips that far in advance. Airline companies can’t predict how busy the flight is going to be sooner than 45 days before the flight date. Therefore they use last year information about this flight before they reach the 45-day-period, which means that in case a certain flight was popular last year, it’s definitely going to cost quite a lot this year. However, this flight may not be that busy this year, and if you book tickets too soon, you risk overpaying. So 45 days in advance is the best time for booking your flights.
Pick the right day
You may know that the cost of air tickets differs depending on the day of the week. Fridays and Sundays are normally the most expensive days, since, naturally, Friday is the end of a working week, and Sunday is the day right before the start of the following working week. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays are “cheap” days in many airlines, as most of the flights are half empty, making the ticket price drop.
Be flexible with the flight dates
If you can afford to be flexible with the days of your trip, play with the flight dates. Even one day forward or backward from the initial date you’ve chosen can cost a lot less.
Fly with low cost airline companies
Low cost airline companies don’t offer a great variety of onboard services, which are usually included into a regular air ticket, however, you get a substantially lower airfare. So if you can do without a full meal and entertainment for a few hours, opt for budget airlines.
Try IT lifehacks
You could have noticed once or twice that the more you study different ticket options, the higher the price of the tickets gets. The explanation for that is that your browser saves your web history and thinks that you are very likely to book a flight. But if you switch your browser into the Incognito mode, the ticket prices drop as if by magic. So look for flights and book them in the Incognito mode, or even on a different computer that doesn’t contain your web history.
